Take Me Back To Art School An Artist Senior Photoshoot

Seriously I feel like I’m in heaven or art school. I’m not sure which. The good old days of film, artistic vision, grainy moody images, and all that jazz.

This senior shoot was beyond creative & artistic. Meet Lauren! Class of 2022!!!!!!

Laurens mom Laura found me thought a friend and wanted to book a session for her daughters senior photos. Lauren mostly wanted an artistic portfolio of images with a very clear vision.

The funny thing with senior photography is I have two bosses.

I have the parents (the paying and booking party) and the grad (the one who needs to love their images & they are IN the images) haha. It’s a fine line my friends. I like to walk that walk/ I take this dance seriously. I do my VERY best to get to know what the parents expect/want and what the student expects/wants. In the end I produce BOTH.

I always work flatting angles for the client. That is a given. Get to know them, their body, their favorite poses, angles etc. So that is a given.

But then shoots like this…

Lauren wanted these moody gritty artistic images. Many of her favorite inspiration was out of focus, behind things, blurry, grainy, not many smiles, you know the moody shots that all the rage these days in vogue & beyond. For an art major this sounded like SOOOO much fun!!! So I was instantly in, I jumped on a call with Lauren to discuss wardrobe & hopes for the shoot. I picked a location & all the vibes and shot specifically to create content Lauren wanted.

But also you have to remember that parents need & want those smiling shots without too crazy of a pose but they also want their kids happy. It’s a fine line.

This shoot was SOOO much fun and I truly believe I danced the dance perfectly!

These images are so beautiful and I know Lauren and her parents will LOVE them! (At least this is what I am telling myself as I blog them) haha I guess I’ll know once they see the blog and deliver the full gallery. Okay I’m kidding. I know they will love them because even though they look like film- I actually shot two digital cameras AND my film camera. I got the best of both worlds. And with the digital camera I was able to show them sneak peeks as we went to make sure I was going in a happy direction for both parties.
