Your Luxury Boudoir Experience

A Preparation Guide by Fully Alive Photography

I am so excited about your upcoming boudoir session.

This experience is about so much more than photographs. It’s about celebrating your femininity, your softness, your strength, and the beauty of your body exactly as it is today.

I know it can feel vulnerable — being in front of a camera, wearing less than you’re used to, stepping into a more intimate space. That’s completely normal. Please know this: I am an artist. I see light, shape, texture, and emotion. I see the way linen falls against skin, the curve of a shoulder in soft window light, the elegance in natural movement.

You do not have to know how to pose. You do not have to know what to do with your hands. I will guide you through everything — gently and intentionally.

Our goal is to create something timeless, elevated, and beautifully you.

The Aesthetic

Your session will feel refined, intimate, and editorial.

Think:

• Layered linen sheets
• Soft neutral blankets
• Oversized cushions
• Sheer curtains diffusing natural light
• A styled bed moment on the studio floor
• Warm ivory, taupe, mocha, charcoal, and black tones
• Bare skin against beautiful texture

This isn’t about distracting props. It’s about softness, light, and intentional simplicity. The mood is romantic, elevated, and effortlessly sensual.

Imagine slow morning light, brushed-out waves, and the quiet confidence of a woman completely at ease in her own skin.

What to Wear

Choose pieces that feel authentic to you — but refined.

Luxury boudoir is less about over-accessorizing and more about elevated simplicity.

Beautiful options include:

• A silk or satin robe
• Neutral or black lace lingerie
• A structured blazer worn alone
• An oversized knit sweater
• A crisp white button-down
• A bodysuit with clean lines
• Bare skin wrapped in linen

Often, the most subtle looks photograph the most powerfully.

Most sessions allow for 2–6 looks. Plan thoughtfully so you don’t feel overwhelmed, and so we can make the most of our time together.

When in doubt, bring it — we can curate together – but it does take up your session time. Some of our collections have time for pre-production & styling!

Skin Preparation

Healthy moisturized skin is the foundation of beautiful imagery.

If you choose to get a spray tan, schedule it 1-3 days before your session. Keep it natural and subtle — avoid overly dark tones or heavy contour tanning & watch for hands & feet tan lines.

In the week leading up to your session:

• Moisturize daily
• Gently exfoliate 48 hours prior ( if you don’t spray tan)
• Avoid trying new skincare products
• Drink plenty of water

Avoid tight clothing the day of your session to prevent marks on your skin.

Hydrated, well-cared-for skin always photographs beautifully.

Hair & Makeup

Photography naturally softens detail, so polished makeup is important — but the goal is enhanced, not heavy (unless you love heavy! then go all in)

Makeup Suggestions:

• Luminous, natural-looking skin
• Soft contour and highlight
• Defined brows
• Neutral or bronze smokey eyes
• We love lash extensions!
• Satin or soft gloss lips

Hair Suggestions

Style your hair in a way that makes you feel confident and polished. Whether that means wearing it natural, styled, braided, textured, voluminous, sleek, or adorned — the most important thing is that it feels like you.

Movement and softness photograph beautifully.

Nails & Small Details

Your hands will appear in more images than you expect — resting on your waist, brushing your collarbone, tucking hair behind your ear.

Consider:

• white
• Soft pink
• Classic red
• Deep wine
• Or clean, natural nails

Avoid chipped polish. Toes matter too — especially for barefoot studio moments.

If You Wear Glasses

Glasses can reflect light and create glare across your eyes.

If you would like to wear them during your session, consider asking your optometrist about borrowing frames without lenses. Plan this at least one to two weeks in advance.

The Day of Your Session

Your only job is to arrive and allow yourself to enjoy this experience.

I will guide you through every pose, every movement, every expression. You do not need to know how to “be sexy.” True confidence is subtle. It’s in the way you breathe, the way you soften your shoulders, the way you move naturally.

We will laugh. We will create. We will move slowly and intentionally.

This session is about honoring your body as it is — not waiting for a different version of yourself.

Your body is not something to fix before celebrating. It is already worthy.

Fully Alive is about embracing yourself completely — softness, strength, curves, angles, and all.
