Garage Studio Family Mini Sessions A Unique & Versatile Space
We recently opened our Garage Studio, and while it’s not my absolute favorite space and doesn’t work for an elevated look, it’s a great affordable option for families or kids needing a quick, simple session.
Why We Opened the Garage Studio
This studio was designed primarily for my son, Mateo, who is growing his small photography business at just 12 years old! He has a talent for capturing headshots and personality-driven portraits for kids, especially those in the 5-15 age range who need acting, modeling, casual or professional photos. Watching him develop his craft has been amazing, and the Garage Studio gives him a space to build experience while offering an affordable option for clients.
While the Garage Studio isn’t meant to replace the professional studios we love and specialize in, it does serve as a convenient and simple option when families just need something quick and easy. We’re keeping it minimal and functional—clean backdrops, good lighting, and a relaxed, low-pressure atmosphere.
A Simple, Affordable Solution for Mini Sessions
Recently, we had the opportunity to photograph a family in the Garage Studio just to see if we could fit 4, and it was the perfect example of how this space works. The controlled lighting kept the images crisp and clean, and the white or colorful backdrop made for a timeless, distraction-free setting.
For families who need a last-minute session or just want a budget-friendly alternative, this is a great compromise. Whether it’s a simple headshot, a kid portrait, a quick milestone session, or some fresh family portraits, the Garage Studio can provide a fast, affordable solution without the extra costs of renting a full studio or a regular session.
Mateo’s Growing Photography Business
The real highlight of this space is how it’s giving Mateo room to grow as a photographer. He specializes in kid portraits, bringing a fun, relaxed energy that makes kids feel comfortable in front of the camera. For this session, Mateo took charge of the kids’ individual & group portraits, making sure their personalities truly shined. It was REALLY cute.
