Sometimes when you think your family is complete… well little surprises come along. The most adorable sort of screaming, crying, and pooping surprises. You may think you can’t handle it when an unplanned extra comes along into your family, but I believe that God will provide a way. Children are indeed a blessing from the Lord, although it may not feel this way when you are again faced with hard pregnancies, sleepless nights, and too much laundry. But the first years of hardship will pass quickly and your family will be fuller, filled with even more love than you can imagine and you will be sustained through it. My grandma always says, “the days are long, but the years are short hunny, don’t wish your life away.” Wisdom wisdom wisdom! I am thankful for her words of truth, as they get me through many long days.
This is one of those hope and hardship stories. Courtney is such an amazing women, I can’t even begin to describe the wonderful sort of mother she is. She was vulnerable and transparent with this unexpected blessing of hers. From the moment she was faced with this new reality, she allowed herself to be real and work through the surprise and fear. I have no doubts whatsoever that this will be maybe one of the biggest blessings of her life. Little Nathan is not only perfectly crafted and beautiful in every way, but I know that he will grow up in a home covered in love and respect. I can’t wait to see the joy he brings into his amazing family in the years to come.
Today let’s choose to send a little extra love to the moms we know and encourage those of us who feel like we can’t give one more day to the endless insanity of motherhood. Pretty sure I feel that way a lot! Let’s try to focus on the perfection God has wonderful crafted and formed.
Now let’s celebrate newborn Nathan and his family today.
