Desert Botanical Garden Family Escape

I photograph a lot of families, but this family is super special to me! If you have seen any of my portrait or wedding work, you recognize these faces by now. I have had the pleasure of photographing Coartney & CJ’s relationship since their engagement shoot in 2011, then the wedding and yearly photos as their sweet family has grown. I am so lucky to be able to continue photographing them even though I ruined their plans for a yearly shoot by moving to Arizona. But this time, they came to me!

And what a sweet escape to leave the still lingering cold of the midwest for a desert adventure in the sun. The Desert Botanical Garden is a hit for natural conserved beauty in the heart of the desert. When coming to Arizona you should plan a visit to there for the prettiest landscapes. It’s a top hit in the valley for locals and visitors alike. It was a beautiful week and we got super lucky with this shoot because the weather was calling for high winds and clouds! However, it ended up working itself out. This was the moment he had been waiting for 🙂 Then all the smiles came out… and the clothes came off. lol.

I LOVE this photo… I know it’s not the classic smiling and looking at the camera but it’s such true and beautiful moments like this that make me LOVE what I do. This is the Zimmerman family in between. Wet baby stripped to a onesie, a concerned dad looking to help, a mom that wants to soothe and comfort, and a little girl exploring the world around her in the midst of the chaos. I love everything about it!

This is also a favorite of mine. I would totally print it! hah.
