Sometimes I wish it was appropriate to use dirty words on my blog. Because the the “Learn To Let Go A Beach Lifestyle Family Photographer’s Advice” is a great title, really the best title would be “Preparing for the Sh@tShow”. Because let’s face it friends, you HAVE to learn to let go because kids are unpredictable, sensory issues are real, and pressure and the desire to control flare up in the best of us, when it comes to your ideal photoshoot.
But friends I am here to tell you… the best thing you can do is learn to let go.
As a lifestyle family photographer for 10+ years I have advice all over the place, but this would be my number one. Learn To Let Go, and let life happen.
Today I have my dear friends from California to feature for the post. It’s absolutely perfect because I know them super well and they have really learned to let go for these sessions we do bi-yearly. Because life is happening and a lifestyle photographer’s style is to capture life as it is, not as you wish it was or want others to think it is. The best thing you can do is to work with whatever sh@tshow life throws your way.
This shoot baby girl really just had it with her adorable outfit. She loved loved love it, then suddenly, the second we got out of the car she LOST it with her belt and shoes. Sensory overload right? Don’t they all do it at some point? It’s a normal daily thing for many kids and adults. So mom and dad just let it go. They helped her as much as they could, hovering between logic and cuddles to work through it and as the photographer (and friend) I just went with it to. We capture life as it was, and learned to let it go and work around meltdown. And sure enough, aren’t these photos just WONDERFUL? Adorable, beautiful and FULL of life!
I am so proud of my friends and the parents they are. So this title “Learn To Let Go A Beach Lifestyle Family Photographer’s Advice” is still perfect 🙂
