Two For One At Papago Park Engagement Session
This location is BOMB! You get two for one at Papago park which makes is an excellent location for an extended engagement session or pick your favorite side for a regular session!
Both sides have perks! Because this location nestled between scottsdale, phoenix and tempe is iconic and easy to find! There are two main sides to Papago that both have massive appeal!
I thought a post where I talked more about each side and it’s pros and cons would be helpful not only for my clients looking for a local place for their shoot and other photographers despite to find beautiful places that are still open! Papago has mostly stayed open throughout COVID and gives plenty of room to space out from other humans.
Let’s talk a little bit more about each side and the vibes it offers!
SOUTH –
The main side of Papago Park is located on the south side of the buttes and the parking lot is a road directly to the west of the zoo entrance. So instead of turning east into the zoo at the light TURN west! That is the official lot FOR Papago! Not only that, but this park is open from Sunrise to Sunset it’s a beautiful, easy to find, central location!
PROS
✓ Easy to find- and very central to the most of the cities.
✓ Lots of free parking
✓ Gorgeous view of the buttes- I mean seriously!!!!!
✓ Some plant life and scattered cacti for a diverse scene
CONS
✓ Lots of walking. This is not an easy in easy out location. You will be hiking awhile to get in to get to shade and views that actually look great in the shot. BRING FLATS to walk in! & lots of water!
✓ It’s very sunny with very little shade. So times for the shoot are really limited to easy morning or later afternoon (depending on sunset & sunrise times)
✓ No restroom facilities. Go pee before you come!
NORTH (AMPHITHEATER)
The north side is known as Papago Park Amphitheater. This is the north side of the buttes. You get a drop dead stunning backdrop with steps carved out of the hillside and paved in beautiful stones.
PROS
✓ Hello unique location
✓ Short walk (MAYBE)
✓ You also have a little area/trail to the left that has some plant life for a diverse look
CONS
✓ The parking is VERY difficult as there are only 6 spots max along a very busy road. If you can’t get a spot you will have to park in the south lot and WALK I mean HIKE HIKE HIKE. It’s a LONG hike around the buttes.
Okay friends! I hope you loved my review and tips for this awesome two for one location!
Pick your favorite and book a shoot today!!!!!!!!!!!
