Okay I’ve been MIA on this blog for months basically. It’s gotten really bad! But alas business is booming and the fringe benefits like blogging aren’t top priority. But I have to write about this lovely wedding because it’s just WAY TO GORGEOUS not to share!!! And I some some tips for what to pack in your wedding detail bag!

So let’s tell the story and then get to the good part- the photos…And some killer tips for how to pack your photographer a bomb detail bag of goodies for flatlay photos! 

Timmy and Rachel found me through a vendor recommendation and from the first call we knew it was a good fit.

Picking your photographer goes beyond just images and editing style- it’s also about the compatibility of personalities.

It can be torture to spend all day with a photographer’s personality doesn’t jive with yours. Because you spend a LOT of time with your photographer. We are up in your business all day. Literally. I pin on boutienners, bustle your dress, pick things out of your teeth kinda up in your business. I mean I’ve even helped brides pee by holding the dress! Haha. This is how intimate the relationship can get. And we are constantly telling you what to do. lol. It has to be the right combo of bossiness and grace. If they aren’t bossy (we like to call that creative direction) at all you are unlikely to get the images you so desperately want, unless you micro-manage all day (and that’s STRESSFUL) and you are still sure to miss something. But they also need to be kind and easy going so you don’t feel bullied all day! It’s a beautiful harmony. So you have to trust them and get along with them. Haha.

Thankfully, we were a great fit for Timmy and Rachel and their carefree, fun-loving easy going personalities. They had clear direction of what they liked but also gave me full creative control and went with the flow all day! They even added on the time to their micro-wedding package for flatlay photos! And that what the whole topic of this post- so I suppose I should write about it already. Hahah

So why do I need a detail bag and what is a flatlay photo anyway?

Well, a flatlay photo is essentially were you take a bunch of pretty things and momentos and let your photographer style them on a flat surface and they take pretty photos!

They make the most beautiful of detail shots to add to your wedding portfolio and capture the essence of all the hard work you put into the day. The details are just everything to an artist so of course these are some of my favorites! And all the kissing haha. 

So what are 12 Items To Pack In Your Wedding Detail Bag for your photographer?

1. Shoes
2. Ties/Bow tie
3. Cuff links
4. Family or heirloom rings or peices
5. Jewelry- necklace, earrings, etc
6. Perfume (pretty bottles please!)
7. All rings (engagement + bands)
8. Fresh Flowers (ask your florist to prepare a FLATLAY kit- tell them-You need a few of the blooms you selected for your bouquets + greenery & other various plant life you used) Basically a loose kit that we can disassemble and lay on the board. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT in our opinion. Because it makes the details come to life and ties in your whole vibe.
9. Invites (give us at least 2 copies if there are front & back side so we can show both in one shot)
10. Cute ring box (or we will bring one!)
11. Extra fabric or ribbon from your dress
12. Vow Book Or Paper goods (table cards etc)

Okay that’s a good list to get you started!

So pack up that bag of goodies and have it all ready for your photographer to start the day with details. That way they can get all the items back to you before getting dressed 🙂
