Storytelling and Peach Blossoms A Springtime Schnepf Farms Wedding
Whew! April was the busiest guys. I’m still recovered and a month deep in editing. I couldn’t be luckier though. I had an amazing month filled with amazing clients and spectacular views. I couldn’t be happier.
Something that really stands out to me about my job, as I’ve been sharing so many weddings this season, is that I am in love with storytelling.
I don’t simply show up at weddings and photograph a portrait list, I really tell a story. This is becoming more apparent to me as I’m blogging these weddings more frequently. I care so much about my clients, their stories, their relationship, their wedding day details share the story of them in so many ways. I ask the couple to allow me time in the day to capture those details. Wedding invites, rings, flowers, reception, ceremony. I’ve always loved the little things that tell the story of the day.
Kellie & Ryan were so fun to work with because they have a great story to tell.
Their story has been in the making for years. These two are high school sweethearts, who truly found their soulmate from a young age and have now chosen to tie the knot with a wedding!
Here is the story through Kellie’s eyes “Â Ryan and I met the summer (2009) between our sophomore and junior years of high school at the state FFA (Future Farmers of America) camp. We talked off and on over the next year but really connected at the Maricopa County Fair in 2010. Ryan was raising a market goat and I had a market lamb, which both happened to be in the same barn at the fair that year. We spent the whole week together and one of my friends actually convinced Ryan to ask me out to my prom which was the following week. We attended my prom together and then Ryan asked me on a date the following week. On May 1, 2010 (junior year of high school) we saw Date Night in theaters and officially started dating. After graduating from high school I moved to Tucson for 2 years. The distance was difficult, but it definitely made our relationship stronger. In 2014 we decided that we did want to get married one day, but we both wanted to finish college first. Ryan proposed on November 20, 2016 at Saguaro Lake on horseback.”
A sweet story with a romantic proposal right?????
I also asked my couples about their future hopes & dreams, as well as how they plan to keep their marriage strong.
“We do plan on having kids, but would like to wait a year or so first. Traveling is also in our future! Neither one of us has been out of the country so we would love to travel somewhere new. Japan, Ireland, New Zealand, and England are our top 4. We also plan on doing a lot of camping and fishing together throughout the years. To keep the marriage strong we plan to still have regular date nights, open and honest conversations, and to never stop trying. We tend to tackle issues right away when they arise. ”
Great advice for us all! Regular date nights, man I need to put that back on my schedule for my marriage. Childcare is a killer. Haha.
So please enjoy these photos, and especially the re-enacted prom poses because it’s so much more for them. They are saying, this is not the beginning, it is a remaking of memories, a turn in the story.
This peach blossom, Schnepf farm wedding is a grand party to celebrate their already beautiful story, and the new pages they are writing.
I am so excited to have come along into their story as it turns a page. I hope that I can continue to be in their lives and keep telling their story.
Congrats Kellie & Ryan! Thank you for letting me tell this piece of your story.
