Connection Is Key For EVERY Woman Fully Alive Creative Content for Sage Aubrey
FYI this blog post was written PRE-COVID. And as sad as it is that we cannot be connected physically right now, we can absolutely connect in other ways!
Today’s post still stands as a story of joy and hope and an altogether good time for a spirit lift this morning! So alas I’m still posting it!
I hope you enjoy this feature from your living room. I hope it helps you feel connected and inspired this morning- to support those around you, support local, support quality, and support yourself!
Okay let’s get to it!
While I am not an expert in fashion, I have always had a deep love for it.
Most of my childhood I was teased for my love of fashion. Maybe it’s because I lacked the ability to actually be fashionable. I didn’t really know WHAT was in fashion. I just wore all the things I LOVED. There were MANY little house on the prairie gowns from the goodwill. Just saying… it wasn’t cool then. haha.
What this did to my little girl heart was ingrain that being “too much” or too out there was a bad thing. It hurt a lot. And I’ve worked years backwards to change my deep rooted pain about being “too much”.
Retaining the uniqueness of me, amidst the teasing, can be probably attested to my mama.
Even thought she could really give two flips about fashion- she always let me be my free self, and I can go on and on thanking her for embracing my eccentric love for clothing. Even when that meant I changed clothes about 8 time a day throughout my youth. Because every hour had a feeling that needed a wardrobe change… still do… She never made fun of me and usually I could get a smile as long as they weren’t strewn across the floor in my fashion show wake.
Life isn’t a whole lot different as an adult. I still adore clothes and have to kon-marie my closet EVERY season. ha.
That’s a tiny bit of my history with my fashion-sense and while I LOVE clothing and style…as anyone that knows me at all knows…
I don’t actually know a lot about the high-fashion world other than the impression “things that cost a lot of money are only for the rich or those confident enough to buy and wear them.” and I don’t make the cut.
Sure I’m stylish… but I’m not… you know what I mean? That makes fashion intimidating in so many ways.
When you think of high fashion what comes to mind?
Unrealistic? Unattainable? For only certain kinds of people? Superficial Culture? Well if you thought any of those then you are not alone.
So this leads to Sage….
Let me tell you all about a badass woman’s message I’ve fallen in love with. And what’s she’s doing to change high fashion culture with her handbags and message
” Connection is Key for EVERY woman!”
Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the most inspiring women I’ve ever known.
My dear friend Risa (Ristyle Consulting) asked me to photograph the creative content for an upcoming style event her friend Sage (Sage Aubrey) and Lindsey (Powerhouse Women) and her awesome self were heading up. So of course my answer was YES! Check out that shoot Style Snax Event at the Emerald HERE. It’s such a neat story and really fun event!
Sage Aubrey you guys. She is the REAL deal.
She is killing it bringing women together, empowering them and creating a message of CONNECTION in the fashion industry.
Her story is revolutionary and I am incredibly proud and lucky to call her FRIEND and stand behind her products and message.
She is inspiring and changing the industry not only with her Luxury and Quality Modern handbags for “The Modern Iconic Woman”- but for spreading radical empowering messages to EVERY woman she touches.
When I launched my handbag collection in 2017 at Bloomingdales, I thought to be sold in the glossy retail stores and seen on the arms of celebrities was going to be the moment I KNEW I’d made it. BUT, it was the opposite. It felt cold and impersonal. I understand how it feels to experience the judgment of out-of-touch luxury brands.
As I began looking at stores where women were shopping for luxury bags, I noticed a disturbing trend; they felt uninspiring, full of judgment and intimidation. The idea of being ‘sold to’ just rubbed me the wrong way. This reality fueled my renewed mission. I decided to take a different, far more personal route with my brand.
I want women to feel recognized, respected and rewarded. Connection, approachability, and confidence minus the too cool, too rich or “better than” vibes describe the woman who wears SA. She is a woman who works hard and inspires other women.Sage Aubrey-https://sageaubrey.com/
“These bags won’t change the world, but the women who wear them are.”
