A Playful Lifestyle Family Photoshoot At El Matador Beach

And the first of my southern California family photoshoots is ready for a sneak peek!

Welp, it’s been another summer trip to SoCal and this was the first overcast rainy one I’ve gotten. But to be fair I normally go a little later in the year. We ventured out there late may this year and normally it’s June or July. But we made it work for us!

This shoot was especially fun because we planned and executed a playful lifestyle session, complete with kites, ribbon banners, blankets and tents on the beach!

It’s not every day my clients are up for something fun and out of the ordinary. It can be a little extra work but WELL worth it in the end! And I’m glad we had things planned because with the weather it really made this shoot something extra special! Forget the clouds and enjoy the little girls playing on the beach!

Also this was a new beach for me that I’ve wanted to shoot at for a LONG time! It’s El matador beach in West Malibu! It’s a destination for many photographers because its’ unique! The giant rock structures make it really interesting and different than the typical beach session. I’m so glad the client was willing to make the drive!

Backstory for a hot moment on the client too!

So I met Rachael through my amazing client & friend Risa! Rachael and Risa have known each other for years – I. believe they met when they both worked for People magazine back in the day! Rachael owns a company called Gift Bags by Rachael and she curates the best collections of gifts for all sorts of events. Including the Oscars, Grammy’s and NFL… and the NFL is what brought us together. She came to Phoenix to manage the gift lounge she curated for for the NFL VIP experience and hired my company to make tiktok/instagram micro video with a few photos for a few days! It was SO fun and Risa was right- we instantly clicked and loved working together. Well she happens to live in the LA area so when I booked my LA trip we made a family session happen!

And it was such a joy to work with her professionally AND now personally!
