Anything Can Be Broadmor Elementary Mural Opening
I’m so excited to announce the official opening of Broadmor Elementary’s inspiring wall mural opening! I volunteered to photograph the dedication ceremony at the school just yesterday. However, I just couldn’t wait to share these images. Therefore, I spent the last 24 hours editing them. ha.
It was wonderful to be just a tiny part of this great masterpiece “led by Local Artist Jake Early and Broadmor Art Masterpiece Coordinator Callen Shutters. This is such a unique project which is sure to bring a lot of joy to the school community.”
This art definitely brings a LOT of joy to me and my family.
My son is a first grader at Broadmor, and as an artist for the past 20 years, I am incredibly grateful for the presence of such fantastic and moving art.
My son will walk past this wall with hundreds of other children every day. As such, he can be inspired by the greatness of art and be moved to be anything he wants to be!
…the mural celebrates student life, showcasing annual events and daily endeavors that make Broadmor so special.
Some of the details on the mural include a nod to the school’s annual Kindergarten Rodeo… The mural includes the iconic stick horse which commemorates the rodeo theme of the event.
Another long-held tradition that is represented on the mural is a vinyl record. This symbolizes Hoodstock Festival of Arts and Music- Broadmor’s spring community festival celebrating art, music, and the school garden. For further information on hoodstuckYou can read more about how Hoodstock started here.
“These details bring the mural to life and would not have been possible without the efforts of countless people going back many, many years,†said Shutters. “We really wanted the mural to celebrate life at Broadmor from the past, present, and future.â€
Shutters has been a parent volunteer at Broadmor for eight years. She has been the Art Masterpiece Coordinator for three of those years. Both Shutters and Early also have children who are currently students at Broadmor Elementary.
