I always go back and forth on whether or not I want to offer newborn photography. It’s fun to put their squishy little faces into the craziest poses and stick them in wooden bowl with fuzzy little rugs, the wrap them on in a million kinds of fabric. Shush them and rock them and beg them to fall into a deep sleep so I can put them in the for-mentioned squishy poses.
However newborn photography is also challenging and requires a lot of patience.
They may or may not go to sleep, they may or may not let me arrange them into crazy poses, they may or may not have super red or yellow skin tones due to jaundice. They also break out and have a million scratches. Not to mention, it’s terrifying to handle such a tiny little precious and breakable ball that just so happens to be the most precious thing in the world to the family that hired you! NO PRESSURE. ha
Most high end professional newborn photographers have studios with the best lighting for newborn skin and they have a million more props than me. With consistent results. However with any other studio photography… I would be bored out of my mind!
So I always come back to what I love best. Lifestyle photography. So I digress. I love the little squishes so much and I love creating images that families can hold onto for a lifetime. So keeping my in-home lifestyle newborn photography options is still a go!
For in home lifestyle newborn photography you have to just roll with the plays. When baby is awake do family when baby is drunk on milk put them in something cute and wrap them up and turn on the sound machine.
So today meet Baby Teddy in his natural habitat – in his home!
He was SOOOO good for our session. He even let us make him into a pineapple. Because pineapples are Carolines favorite.
I mean seriously what FUN! haha. How could I ever give this up?
I do feel so much more comfortable and excited to shoot friends or previous clients newborn sessions. Everyone is at ease because they know me and trust me! This is my third shoot with Caroline and Jr. And Caroline has been my friend now for over two years! So of course Jr busted out the spritzers, Millie made sure to keep watch, and we pulled out the pineapple props and got to having fun!
