Sunsets And Ponies A 7 year Old Birthday Shoot

EEEK! It’s that time of year again!!!! Amelia’s BIRTHDAY!

This little lady has been the star of the show over here for 7 years! I started photographing her at the adorable age of 10 months! The funniest thing watching your friends kids grow up behind the camera is that you notice things. Like how for the first few years she would BARELY break a smile, I mean her first few shoots I got NOTHING. Then slowly the smiles came and she was more interested in the camera. And now at years years old I cannot stop the smiles! She breaths smiles and twirls for me. I just love this little girl as if she was my own!

This years magical sunset shoot may likely beat them all.

Amilia started taking horseback riding lessons last year and so this year we had the great pleasure of heading to Maya’s farm to take shots with the horse she’s been training on! So yes I called the blog “Sunsets And Ponies A 7 year Old Birthday Shoot” and it’s not a pony… it’s totally a horse. And I know the difference… because yes, I grew up horseback riding too and my first “horse” was actually a pony. A welsh hackney pony “Shadow” to be precise. I LOVED her to death. Then I moved up to Arabians… and this is the breed Amilia is learning to ride on! How exciting!

And of course I said we just had to do the golden hour to get magical sunset and horse shots.

I couldn’t be ANY happier with these! I mean I’m dying over here… You? I just love shooting at sunset, if clients are looking for that glowing haze there is NO better time of day. We can get haze and sunflare in the morning sunrise, but it’s more pink and clear. It’s not the same as that sunset hour. Not everyone loves the hazy vibes but I’m always in awe of how beautiful it is! Add in a horse and little girl… and I’m in for life.

Also another great perk of doing shoots for your closest friends is that you can bring your kid to work day.

haha. Mateo wanted to see the farm and the horse so I got to bring him along. AND he took some really fun behind the scenes videos and I’ll def be making a cute tiktok/IG reels situation with them. I even paid him. It’s good to learn hustle entrepreneur skills early.
